Intern Kelsey Peake Creates A Video For Domestic Violence Victims

What To Expect In WV Family Court for a DVPO (Domestic Violence Protective Order)

LAWV summer intern Kelsey Peake creates a valuable new resource for domestic violence victims.

Kelsey Peake, a 2017 summer college intern, produced this 8 minute video for our website, to help guide people through the process of going to court for a domestic violence protection order.  The video covers a wide range of information and suggestions, with a reassuring and supportive tone.  We hope it will help victims manage some of their fears about going to court perhaps for the first time in their lives.

Kelsey is a rising senior at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL. She came to LAWV through the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty, an interdisciplinary program with over 20 participating colleges and 120 participating agencies across the country. Kelsey says, "Working at Legal Aid this summer is an experience I will cherish for many years to come; not only because of everything that I learned, but also because of the many wonderful people that I met during my time here.”
