Document Alert - Lawsuits by "Small Debt Purchasers" - In the last year or two there has been a wave of lawsuits against people for “old small debts.” These are often old credit cards or loans of a few thousand dollars or less. Document memo - Effect of Minimum Wage Changes on Child Support and Garnishment - In 2007 Congress enacted phased increases in the federal minimum wage, over the next several years. In some cases this will affect the calculation of Child Support. It will also affect the amount of income which is protected from garnishment by a creditor. This memo, by a law student with LAWV, is fairly technical but offers good information.
