- "Making Connections" is a collaborative effort of the West Virginia Welfare Reform Coalition, Legal Aid of WV, American Friends Service Committee, and Community Voices. The goal is to support outreach workers in informing and linking families to the services and benefits for which they might be eligible. This site has a fantastic manual of information on health care, education and job skills, welfare and Food Stamp benefits, and more.

- The "Direct Action Welfare Group (DAWG)" in Charleston, WV provides training, support, and advocacy to empower people in poverty to be heard on the national, regional, and state levels to ensure that they have a voice in the policies that affect them. DAWG provides information sessions where people in poverty meet with policymakers; organizes people in poverty to become leaders in their communities; and monitors state and national legislation.
