- This chapter of Women and the Law: A Legal Rights Handbook, Online Edition, provides a brief overview of the U.S. Constitution and explains the powers and duties of the three branches of our federal government. It also discusses the rights and liberties afforded U.S. citizens by each of the 10 amendments included in the Bill of Rights.
