Document The Law, The Courts, and You - "Women and the Law" 2007 Edition - This chapter of Women and the Law: A Legal Rights Handbook, Online Edition, provides a brief overview of the U.S. Constitution and explains the powers and duties of the three branches of our federal government. It also discusses the rights and liberties afforded U.S. citizens by each of the 10 amendments included in the Bill of Rights. In addition, this chapter offers information on the state and federal court system in West Virginia, as well as issues women should consider when hiring a lawyer or electing to represent themselves in court.
