What Does WV Law Say About Allowing Pets in Rental Housing?

There is no West Virginia law that requires pets to be prohibited or permitted.  This is completely left to the agreement of the landlord and the tenant.  Under West Virginia law, only the rental agreement determines whether pets are allowed or prohibited.  (The “rental agreement” can be either written or verbal. )

A short list of common-sense steps to protect yourself when you move out of rental housing.  Whether you are moving voluntarily, or being forced out, you need to protect yourself from later claims for damages, cleaning, and the like.
