Pro Bono work can be very rewarding, and Legal Aid of West Virginia is using technology to make it as easy as possible to take a case and help someone in need!
On May 1st, LAWV re-launched their “Pro Bono Portal,” an online case management tool used to match up lawyers interested in doing pro bono work with clients who have a specific legal need. While much of the portal remains the same, the biggest and most significant change is the addition of the option to get automatic reminders by email to check the portal for new cases. These emails will only be sent to portal participants if the case types they choose to work on are added to the system, and if that case is located within the geographic area where the attorney is willing to practice.
In addition to the ability to more easily get connected with a client who is need of legal help, the portal continues to offer free CLE credits in several areas of the law as a benefit to those who choose to sign up for the portal.
